Stephanie Tallant Any tips to get my hips over? Do I just need to get more strength?

Melissa Angling Vanessa left some great advice about experimenting with hand placement. Also, it looks like you could possibly pull down on the pole a bit more through your lats. The cue I like to use is imagine you’re trying the throw the pole between your legs lol Are you familiar with the exercise “dragon flags”? It’s a really good one to familiarize yourself with your lay muscle if it’s not something you’re already familiar with? Lmk!!

Hey Melissa! I’m so happy you joined! Between this app and October being shoulder mount month in class, you will have this down in no time!!

Your "that's been the story of my life" is so relatable I feel it in my bonessssss.

So I think your arms might be too high which would make this 10000 times harder bc the higher the arms the higher you have to get your butt up. When I set up for shoulder mount my hands are like forehead height-ish (if my head were up), but really my forearms are almost parallel with the floor (pic). Then when I go to shoulder mount I think about squeezing my elbows towards each other and pulling them down towards the ground like like trying to rip the top of my pole off the ceiling and pull it down to the ground. Shoulder mounts are one of the moves I feel utilizes leverage rather than pure strength, but that being said I've also heard it's harder if you're taller for that reason.

Hey Melissa Angling Ohh let me tell you the pole doesn’t like tall people 😂😂 you got this though! You are soooo close 👏🏾👏🏾 yes like Vanessa said your hands may be too high and also I don’t know if this helps any but as a tallish girlie myself I have to lift my hips much higher almost like thrusting it in the air then.really tucking that pelvis towards the pole. So think of using your hands to throw the pole between your legs like Stephanie said.. then thrust your hips up entire core engaged. Hope this wasn’t confusing 😅😅 YOU GOT THIS!!
