I am soooo happy you shared this Jamimah!! It looks like everything you've been doing with crunching and twisting and upper back flexibility is showing! A chip in the bucket to keep doing what you're doing because it's working! very very good!

Yayyy I'm so happy to see you did this homework. And all good things to know.. This movement was very unnatural for me as well and it is for many of us, so that's okay. The more you do it, the better it'll get. YES it should feel like a workout!! I'm glad you said this, it is feedback that you were doing it correctly. Block is okay for now. I think as your flexibility improves and your comfort level with the exercise increases, we'll be able to move the block down a little bit.

Stephanie Tallant okay so watch from about 27:50 - 30:00 & pay close attention to when I start talking abou the "percentage" of ab engagement we should maintain throughout our backbend (around 29:12). This is a good exercise to practice how to hold engagement in the core when we are in an extended back position. Sometimes a block feels like too much, so you can start by using a rolled up towel or the block on the small setting. Have you happened to come across this specific drill in any of the classes you've taken on the app? just curious how it felt for you if it's something you've already done. Let me know babe!

jamimah oooo this might be part of the reason you are feeling it in your back.. I explain the concept of ab engagement while in a backbend position in one of my backbend classes. I will make sure to find that class today and tag it here on this thread with the specific timestamps of the explanation. Stay tuned!!
