True grip handspring question from Susan Papp Mlodzienski (https://polewithsteph.com/community/posts/still-stuck-with-the-true-grip-handsp)

I want you to take a look at the first clip and notice how the swinging leg travels away from the pole to help lift the hips higher. This drill really helped Julia get the height she needed to make the second part of the handspring achievable.
In the third clip, you'll see a slow-mo version of that same drill, now combined with the full handspring movement. Watch how the leg stays fairly straight and continues traveling away from the pole until it’s parallel to the floor—then it bends in toward the chest.
In comparison, it looks like in the video you shared here, the swinging leg is bending early and moving more out to the side rather than traveling straight out first. Do you see that difference? And let me know if you’re up for experimenting with this technique next time you practice?

A thank youuu to our app member, Julia Olko, for allowing me to use this video of her as examples 🙏🏻

Stephanie Tallant I've been trying to work on backbends more, but they really hurt my wrists. I thought working on them more would hurt my wrists less, but my wrists continue to hurt and prevent me from being able to hold a backbend for extended periods in order to progress. I was told by my old PT that my wrists are hypermobile so I'm not sure if that could be contributing. Are there any wrist stabilizing/strengthening exercises you recommend for backbends?

I’ve been working on my satellite, and having trouble with reaching the back leg. I found more success with back crucifix than the brass entrance (just because I struggle with centering the pole in my 🍑lol). Do you have any advice for the leg grab? Stephanie Tallant thank you for the tutorial !

Stephanie Tallant do you know what the last move is called? Also do you know what I was trying to do because I don’t 🤣😂 but I feel like I have seen you do it before.. is it the set up to an archer? I know I thought about doing Pegasus and I said absolutely not 😅

Susan Papp Mlodzienski straight arm true grip handspring example: the pull feels much more similar to twisted grip for me with my arms wider and straighter

I wanted to share this because I am so happy. I have been nursing a hamstring injury and I can’t train all the stuff I want to train. Today just doing this made me sooooooooooo happy, if I wasn’t injured I don’t think I’ll have cared for this tbh. But the fact that I can just pole in some way makes me sooo grateful and appreciate every lil spin ❤️

Still stuck with the true grip handspring. I do feel like my head is going down. Where should I look ? I’ve been stuck here for months. I can handspring with twisted grip. Stephanie Tallant
