Welcome back!! Glad you're healed up and ready to start playing again. For me personally, every week looks a little different :)) For the students that I work closely with here, I would say average is 2 gym days, 2-3 flexibility tutorials during the week, 2-3 pole sessions (maybe 10 minutes maybe 45 mins maybe longer depending on level), and pole conditioning and other things sprinkled in. For other instructors that I know are here and those that are consistent with some parts of the program, I would love to hear how you plan your weeks if you're up for sharing?! Omg I talk to myself so much too!!! So funny! I also have one floor drill I want you to try specifically focusing on the internal rotation of the shoulder. I'll see if I have a video bc I do it as a stretch for myself a lot. And yes agreed with the contact points that Vanessa discusses in her baby poler video. If that contact point is not solid, the leg is just going to slide down the pole while we are trying to grab making the "where the f is the pole moment" very frustrating lol I know you're going to get this and can't wait to see progress with it!!

I think it could be helpful to try doing the backward spinning invert from the floor and just a little bit slower, so you can save your energy by taking out the climb part. Does that make sense? It's good to hear that you enjoy review weeks! I love having them in mt personal practice time too. As you said, they are helpful in improving things that are challenging!

Does that make sense on paper? Leg back, chest forward

Good call with removing crash pad only a little! Easier to balance on flat floor 🙃 okay so good job with untucking tailbone. Now what also has to happen here is that when you do that, you also have to press your chest forward a little to counteract the extra weight that is now behind you. It’s a balancing act 🙃

Great advice Vanessa !! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this - I was going to recommend the floor stretch too, so that’s perfect! jamimah agreed with Vanessa tips- all great ones! The wrap placement will look a little different for everyone depending on arm length and different bodies so definitely experiment with this. Having the knee a little more behind the shoulder would be helpful too so in between attempts or for your warm up next time, dry some drills in this tutorial that I specifically created for the knee behind shoulder flexibility and keep us posted!

Your Weekly Challenge! REVIEW TIME!

June 3rd - Extended Butterfly & Poisson (+ variations)

June 10th - Inverts on static & spin | "Pretty" invert to leg hook | Invert Conditioning

June 17th - Laybacks (& variations including crescent)

What does Review Week Mean?

-Revisit a challenge that you missed OR

-Revisit a challenge that was especially difficult for you OR

-Revisit a challenge that you freakin LOVED OR

-Pick two or three moves from this month and try to make a combo!!

Why?

Often times in pole, we bounce around to the "next cool Instagram move". So I love having review weeks in my personal practice too, which gives us a chance to further connect and explore different moves and sequences that we've already done in the past. Our bodies LOVE consistency when learning new things. I hope you enjoy this week!!

Requirements:

  • Click "Join"

  • Because there are different levels included in this challenge, you do not need to mark all videos as "watched". However please follow the other requirements

  • Share a picture or a video of something included in this week's videos in the Community Feed at www.polewithsteph.com OR via your app. Just a screenshot is totally fine if that's all you're comfortable with!!

  • Share a picture or a video on Instagram and tag @stephanietallant_pole and #thebestpoleapp

Each month, there will be one randomly selected winner chosen amongst all members who complete the weekly challenge at least TWICE during the month! June winner announced next Monday! 🎉
